  2. Didn't plant the radishes - but I will take this time to ask about the carrots and parsnips. Planted both and after 3 weeks, lots of water, plenty of sun, not one has germinated. Do they take longer?

  3. Hey Yoni,
Carrots and Parsnips could take up to 35 days to germinate. They can be a little more fussy than other things. When the weather is cooler it can slow them down as well as when the weather is warmer it does the same thing. I know that it is frustrating since you don't know if they are going to come up, but be patient and you should be seeing them come up here in a week or two. Hope that this helps.

  5. Thanks Dirk!

By the way the score is now Yoni: 6, Raccoons: 2.

Got 6 raccoons in 9 days and since then there's one who's hung back who's clearly smarter than the rest. He/she avoids the trap but still manages to loot my compost pile every few nights.

I feel like Elmer Fudd every morning when I look out to see my trap not sprung and garbage everywhere.

  7. Hey Angela Marie,

It's great that you have so many radishes!
When you are having a BBQ cut some in half and brush a little olive oil and salt on them then grill enough to mark. Other than that they are great raw with a bit of butter on them or sliced in many different salads. Hope this gives you a few good ideas.

    Cheers

  8. No radishes, thanks to our taking far too long to figure out what beasts kept nibbling away our more delicate seedlings. Now that we've successfully reduced the population of Evil Disgusting Earwigs in our garden, our veggies seem to last more than the 3-day-max from the early weeks.

All of our beans are looking great so far!
